Kellye Roberts, Instructional Coach
Hello and Welcome!
I wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I watched my grandmother who was a phenomenal teacher, prepare for school and grade papers nightly. I thought grading papers, putting up bulletin boards and cleaning chalkboards was the best thing about being a teacher. Was I in for a big surprise….teaching is much more than that, but to be honest that was the beginning of my desire to become a teacher. As a child I was not your ideal student and school was at times very difficult. However the desire to teach was always dear to my heart and I believed that I could make a difference in the lives of children.
I enjoy living life to the fullest! I love “Oldie but Goodie” music and I love Harley Davidson motorcycles!!! I am adventurous and I someday want to bungee jump from a bridge and I also plan to jump from an airplane…. I love to travel and spend time with my children and granddaughter.
I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in reading K-12th grade and my Masters of Arts in Secondary Mathematics at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.
I taught for nine years in 3rd Grade and I have mentored an array of teachers in a variety of grade levels. I present staff development at the local and state level. I currently work as an Instructional Coach at Stokes Elementary School in Pitt County.
As an Instructional Coach I have the opportunity to work in classrooms K-8th grade to help teachers focus on their instructional practice. I am passionate about teaching and meeting the needs of students by helping teachers reflect on their practice.
We will meet the needs of the children we teach by recognizing them as individuals and valuing their cultures, encouraging them to dream, and by imparting a love for learning. Students must learn the essential skills necessary for success in today’s world, such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration. While working with my colleagues and with parental support we will accomplish this goal!
